Program Overview
Day 1: My Musical Journey as a Cross-Cultural Composer and Educator
Speaker: Dr. Sheung-Ping Lai
Dr. Lai will share how her background as a composer and educator across different cultures has shaped her music. She’ll also play some of her work and talk about working with artists from different fields.
Day 2: My Career as a Multidisciplinary Composer and Producer: Collaboration between Composer and People
Speaker: Dr. Anthony Cheng
Dr. Cheng will talk about how he combines composing, producing, and performing in his career. He’ll share how he collaborates with others and manages projects from his home studio to stages worldwide.
Day 3: Collaboration Between Composer and Librettist
Speakers: Dr. Pui-Shan Cheung & Ms. Pansy Lai
Learn how music and words come together in an opera. This session will feature the team behind the award-winning Lotus Script, sharing how they created this powerful work.
Day 4: Music, Creativity, and Education in the Digital Era
Speaker: Dr. Michael Leung Chi-Hin
Dr. Leung will talk about how technology is changing music. He’ll show examples of using digital tools in education and creating new ways to experience music.
Day 5: Showcase of Student Compositions
If you are an adult beginner composer, you are welcome to submit an original score in a PDF file and a video/audio recording (within 4 minutes) to be featured on the final day. Selected works will be shared and discussed, with feedback from Dr. Lai. Even if your work isn’t presented, you’ll still get comments to help you improve.
